From the wolf to the dog
A must-have for all wolf and dog fans is the theme day “From the wolf to the dog”, which takes place in the Wildpark Lüneburger Heide in Hanstedt Nindorf on Saturday, September 1st from 11am to 4pm. The Wolfstag has been a fixture in the Wildpark calendar of events for many years and offers an informative and entertaining platform for all visitors who are interested in the topic of “wolf” as well as working with dogs.
For educational work and the questions of visitors numerous organizations provide their concentrated knowledge at information stands. Also in attendance are the Society for the Protection of Wolves, Wolf Commissioner of the State Hunters, the Nature Conservation Union (NABU), the Freundeskreis Freilebender Wölfe and Thoddys Wolfs-Kinderclub. The Schlittenhundesportclub Niedersachsen and the Interessengemeinschaft Tamaskan inform about their special dog breeds. Visitors can also look forward to numerous demonstrations – above all the presentation of the gray and polar wolves by the wildlife park wolf expert Tanja Askani. The Dog Sports Association PHV Lüneburg, the Dog School “Hundherum zufrieden!”, The DRK Rescue Dog Relay Lüneburg, and the Mantrailer Regional Group Nordheide, which shows the use of working dogs for people search, have also confirmed their attendance. Of course, a shepherd dog show with Border Collies should not be missing.
As a further action, there will be a rally for dog and masters through the park. At various stations, two- and four-legged friends are invited to prove their ability to work in a team, skill and obedience. Dog owners can also cast the traces of their four-legged friends in plaster right on the spot. Children can show what they know about wolves and take the little wolf diploma. There are also bread toasts and face painting.
